Get Through MRCPCH Part 2,125 questions and clinical photographs (208 pages and 125 photos)

This book was written and published in 2007 and republished in 2011 and sold more than 20,000 copies. It is my seventh book of my series books on MRCPCH. It was the most popular book I published after the data interpretation book. It was reviewed in the BMJ as well.

One picture is worth ten thousand words” (Frederick R. Barnard, 1921). Current studies of the human memory make a functional division of memory into short-term and long-term memory. Both types store and remember information as “chunks” but there is a distinct difference in the number of these “chunks” that can be retrieved. Photographic memory is a very strong one and in this book, you will read, look at photos and get the right answer which will stick in your memory. So why this book is very popular is because it has everything: knowledge, excellent material and is very well prepared to suit all candidates, students and teachers who are working in the field of paediatric medicine.

It has 208 pages and 125 excellent photos with questions in the style of “chose the write answer or write your own answer”, “best of five” and extending matching questions. It covers clinical paediatrics and is rich in subject knowledge thereby giving the candidate confidence to answer any questions in the exam, especially if it is read with other books like this one.

“This is an excellent example of an exam revision guide, full of photographs, radiographs and even the occasional histopathology slide … It is good preparation for the ambiguity of exam questions and for the debates one has with colleagues about diagnoses. Overall the explanations given are clear and thorough … this book will give you 125 more reasons to be able to succeed” (amazon review)

The most striking element of this book is the true to life way that each case is handled in terms of the presenting features, investigations, treatment, and further management. This surely reflects the fact that the images are derived from the authors’ wealth of clinical experience and obvious strong desire to teach.” (quote from a reviewer in Arc.dise, Chi).

    :

Useful picture book for preparing for the MRCPCH part 2 written exam and added a little to preparing for the MRCPCH clinical exam’s video station. The book helped augment revision but would not be sufficient as a sole resource for the exam
